About three months ago, an extensive fire turned the hills surrounding Villa de Leyva into smouldering charcoal. It was a disaster.

Look at those same hills now, all green again.

    Hello Markus – isn’t nature wonderful? We underestimate her to our peril.
    I see you are a translator. Do you ever need a German/English translator? I am bilingual, my mother was German and I spent 10 years living in Germany after growing up in London. When I was in Germany I worked for embassies and then did a social work degree (in German).
    I got a Zertifikaat C1 qualification from the Goethe Institut in Glasgow in 2007. I have relatives in Germany still and will be visiting them in June.
